Why Freight Forwarding with Rapid

  • One team for the complete movement: booking, pickup, documentation, customs clearance and delivery
  • Ocean freight booked with shipping lines; air freight booked through IATA-accredited agents
  • Customs clearance filed through licensed customs brokers at origin and destination
  • Every quote itemised — freight, origin charges, customs and duty, destination charges and delivery shown separately
  • Domestic legs carried on Rapid's own rail, road and coastal network where the lane calls for it
  • Financial credibility you can check: Rapid Multimodal Logistics Limited is listed on BSE SME, with financial results published every half-year, and is a CONCOR Platinum Business Associate

What a Freight Forwarder Does for You

A freight forwarder takes responsibility for your export or import shipment from your factory to the consignee's door. We do not own ships or aircraft; we book space with shipping lines and airlines, collect the cargo, prepare the shipping documents, arrange customs clearance through licensed customs brokers at both ends, and deliver the goods — so you deal with one team, not six.

  • Booking — space on the right sailing or flight, FCL, LCL or air
  • Pickup — first-mile transport from your plant or warehouse to the port or airport
  • Documentation — prepared and checked before the cargo moves
  • Customs — export clearance in India, import clearance at destination
  • Delivery — last-mile transport to the consignee, with proof of delivery

What We Offer

Sea and air, export and import, with customs and documentation handled by the same desk.

Ocean Freight — FCL

Full containers booked with shipping lines on the sailing that suits your lane, with first-mile and port handling coordinated at origin.

Ocean Freight — LCL

Smaller shipments consolidated into shared containers, so you pay only for the space your cargo uses.

Air Freight

Time-critical and high-value cargo booked through IATA-accredited agents, airport to airport or door to door, with priority handling for perishables and urgent orders.

Customs Clearance

Export clearance in India and import clearance at destination, filed through licensed customs brokers, with classification and duty assessment coordinated by our desk.

Documentation

Commercial invoice, packing list, shipping bill, bill of lading or air waybill, certificates of origin, documents under letters of credit and export-import licensing — checked before they can stall a shipment at port.

Door-to-Door Delivery

Pickup from your plant or warehouse, delivery to the consignee through partner agents at destination, with short-term storage and palletising at the port where needed, and proof of delivery.

Many Shipments. One Container.

Not every shipment fills a container — and it shouldn't have to pay for one. Through LCL consolidation, cargo from several shippers is stuffed into a single shared container at the origin container freight station (CFS) and de-stuffed at destination, so you pay only for the space you actually use.

  • Pay for the space you use, not the whole box
  • Small and mid-sized loads, moved on the same routes as the big ones
  • One booking, one point of contact — from your warehouse to the final destination
  • Consolidation at origin, deconsolidation at destination, coordinated by the same desk
How LCL works

One 20' container, several shippers. Each pays only for the space their cargo takes.

Your 2 CBM in a 28 CBM box≈ 7% of the container — and of its cost

What a Quote from Us Looks Like

Every quote itemises freight, origin charges, customs and duty, destination charges and delivery separately — no bundled line items that hide where the cost actually sits. You see what you are paying for before you book.

  • Freight and local charges shown on separate lines
  • Customs duty shown at cost, with the classification used
  • Validity, transit time and cut-off stated on every quote

Cargo Dimensions Decide the Rate

Freight is charged on space as much as on weight, so a quote is only as good as the measurements behind it.

  • Sea LCL is charged per CBM or per tonne, whichever is higher (1 CBM is taken as 1,000 kg)
  • Air freight is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher (1 CBM is taken as 167 kg)
  • FCL is a fixed container, so dimensions decide whether the cargo fits a 20' or a 40' and how it is stuffed
  • Measure each piece as packed — pallet, crate or carton — not the bare product
  • Give us pieces × length × width × height in centimetres and the gross weight in kilograms; our desk confirms the chargeable weight in the quote

Work Out Your CBM

Indicative only — the quote confirms the chargeable weight.

Dimensions of one piece, as packed

Total volume, all pieces—
Sea LCL, chargeable—
Air, chargeable—

Totals are for all pieces of this size. Mixed sizes: work each size out separately and add the volumes. Commodity, density, sailing frequency and local charges change the answer — the quote confirms it.

Where We Ship

Through India’s major ports and airports — not tied to one route or one carrier — with partner agents at destinations across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the Americas.

Before You Ship, You Might Wonder…

What is LCL, and when should I use it?

LCL (less than container load) means your cargo shares a container with other shippers’ cargo. It is the sensible choice when your shipment cannot fill a whole container — you pay for the space you use, not the entire box.

How is LCL freight priced?

Usually per cubic metre (CBM) or per tonne, whichever works out higher, plus handling charges at origin and destination. Every quote from us lists these separately.

Which documents do I need?

Typically a commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading (or air waybill), plus an Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) for trade from India. Some goods need extra permits or a certificate of origin — tell us what you are shipping and we will confirm the exact list.

Sea or air — which should I choose?

Sea costs far less per kilo and suits heavier, less urgent cargo. Air is faster and better for high-value, perishable or time-critical goods. Use the CBM calculator above, or share your cargo and deadline and we will recommend one.

Do you handle customs and delivery too?

Yes. Booking, documentation, customs clearance (through licensed customs brokers) and delivery are managed as one job by one team, so you always know who to call.

How quickly will I get a quote?

As quickly as we can. The more you tell us about the cargo, weight and route, the faster and more accurate the quote.

Shipping Beyond India?

Share pieces, dimensions, weight, origin and destination, and our desk will come back with an itemised quote.
